Celine Lee / Owner. Artist
Before Red Unicorn Art, I was a Star Seller on Etsy (www.etsy.com/shop/CelineZiangArt) from 2014 to 2017, selling over 2,600 pieces in four years. As orders snowballed, my small studio faced immense pressure. Every piece was crafted with care, but the overwhelming demand made me realize I couldn't sustain that pace. After careful consideration, I decided to close my Etsy shop and accept only a manageable number of orders on czartdesign.com. This allowed me to regain my creative freedom while making more time for my family, striking a balance between personal life and work.
Minimalism has always been at the core of my creative journey—not just a style, but a way of life. By distilling elements and emphasizing form and space, I aim to evoke a sense of inner peace and strength. This artistic philosophy aligns well with many interior design styles, making my work a natural fit for various spaces.
In 2024, I welcomed two partners: artists Doug Hyde and Ethan Hill. With a growing team, the name CZ ART DESIGN, originally an abbreviation of my name, Celine Ziang, no longer felt appropriate. And so, Red Unicorn Art was born!
- Ethan Hill and I specialize in minimalist art. While the original pieces have been sold, we recreate our designs in multiple sizes, offering our art as made-to-order.
- Doug Hyde, in contrast, focuses on expressionism. His artworks are one-of-a-kind, ready to hang, and impossible to replicate—even by himself. His deep understanding of color, form, and emotion allows him to craft pieces that transcend boundaries and ignite the imagination. Each painting features thick, vibrant layers of paint that merge in a mesmerizing fusion, making every piece a true marvel.
Doug’s expressionist style perfectly complements Ethan’s and my minimalist aesthetic, enriching our collection with a broader spectrum of artistic expression.
Beyond painting, the three of us are continuously learning and growing, taking on various studio responsibilities. We handle photography, artwork scanning, image processing, marketing, and customer service, ensuring that each piece comes straight from the artist to the buyer. By doing so, we eliminate the need to sell through third-party platforms that typically charge high commissions—often as much as 40%. This allows us to offer our work at fair prices while maintaining a direct connection with our collectors.
Together, we share a unified goal: to create art that is engaging, meaningful, and deeply resonant. We look forward to presenting more inspiring pieces in the future!

I consider myself incredibly fortunate. I discovered my passion as a child and embarked on my journey as an artist after graduating from art school. Over the past two decades, I've dedicated myself to cultivating a sustainable lifestyle centered around that passion.
My works tend to emphasize colors, forms, and textures themselves, rather than conventional representational imagery. I've applied layers of paint and scratches with various tools. While the painting technique may seem casually applied, it is actually a calculated and intentional layout. The style of the paintings belongs to abstract expressionism, a genre based on personal emotions and subjective experiences, highlighting emotional responses and inner worlds. The heavy application of paint and the free overlay of color blocks are spontaneous and emotional expressions in the creative process, making each creation also a kind of performance art, the physical act of painting itself as part of the artwork's essence.
This style of artwork presents a significant challenge for me. Unlike traditional projects where planning ahead is possible, I can only envision the general ambiance that each piece will convey, but I cannot predict the specific outcome. Most of the time, I have to conceptualize the next steps based on the actual progress of each phase. In this process, unpredictable factors can be both a blessing and a curse; they can either enhance or detract from the artwork. Therefore, each creation is a small wonder!
While I have my own interpretations of each piece as the creator, I prefer to let viewers engage their imaginations and personal interpretations when appreciating my works; everyone's feelings and understanding of the pieces may differ.
Throughout my career, I've drawn inspiration from the beauty of the world around me, from the vibrant hues of nature to the complexities of human emotion. Each brushstroke is a reflection of my experiences, thoughts, and feelings, captured on canvas for others to interpret and enjoy.
As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of my creativity and exploring new techniques and styles. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my passion with others and to contribute to the rich tapestry of artistic expression.

From childhood doodles to professional canvases, my journey has been one of constant exploration. Minimalism became my language—a means to distill complexity into clarity. I strive to create art that resonates not through excess, but through quiet impact, where less truly becomes more.
My process is guided by intuition and restraint, allowing each composition to emerge organically. Every stroke carries intention, every space holds meaning. I find inspiration in the balance between presence and absence, using contrast, texture, and form to evoke emotion without overwhelming the senses.
I believe that art should invite reflection rather than demand attention. My work is an open dialogue, offering room for interpretation and personal connection. In a world full of noise, I aim to create spaces of quiet clarity—where simplicity speaks, and the unspoken carries meaning.
